The Oxford Millennium Orchestra (OMO) is the principal University-wide non-auditioning Symphony Orchestra. We have performed in the Sheldonian Theatre every term over the last 10+ years and we have been on European tours over the summer many times. In the past, we have been to Barcelona, Prague, Bilbao (Spain), Budapest, Oporto (Portugal), Krakow (Poland), and Ljubjlana (Slovenia). Our conductor at the moment, Adrian Adlam, is a professional conductor and was previously concertmaster with the LSO, so he has masses of experience and has really been great in bringing out the best from the orchestra.
OMO is known for its social atmosphere and some of our players are also members of OUMS ensembles like OUO, OUPhil and OUSE, as their college orchestras. Several members end up choosing OMO above their other commitments because of the friendly members. We are made up of both students and non-students living in the Oxford area, which makes for a really nice mixture of people, and a good chance to escape a bit from the stresses of uni life! After our Monday rehearsals we often head to the pub to chat and get to know each other better.
