OUMS Auditions
Five of the nine OUMS ensembles are auditioned, with OUO, OUSinf, OUPhil, and OUWO auditioned under a single OUMS audition and OUJO auditioning players separately. The main Michaelmas Term OUMS auditions will take place on Saturday and Sunday of Week 0 (October 10th and 11th), from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Here's what you need to know:

Auditions will last around 15 minutes and consist of:

A prepared piece around 3 minutes in length, chosen by you.

A prepared excerpt chosen by the audition panel, to be released one week before auditions.

A sight piece to be given on the day. You will have 2 minutes to practice the piece before playing.

Auditions will take place in the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities on Woodstock Road (OX2 6GG).
A video with directions will be provided in advance and there will be plenty of signs and volunteers to direct you to the right place.

When you have signed up for auditions, you will receive an email on Friday, October 9th with your audition time and your arrival time. Upon arrival, you will be directed to a practice room, where you will be able to warm up for 15 minutes. You will then be brought to your audition room for your audition with 3 panellists. What if I can't make my audition time? That’s perfectly fine. Please respond to your email informing us that you cannot make your allocated time. You will be assigned to a slot between 1 and 5 PM on Sunday, October 11th. Please do your best to keep this time open if you can. If you still cannot make your assigned time, let us know, and we can arrange another option. If you know that you can’t make any time on the weekend at all, for whatever reason, please do sign up nonetheless and email Aliyan at aliyan.boodhwani@univ.ox.ac.uk. We’ll find a way to work around your schedule.
