Artistic Administrator: Julia Stutfield
Schola Cantorum of Oxford is the University of Oxford's premier chamber choir. Founded by conductor László Heltay in 1960 as Collegium Musicum Oxoniense, Schola’s mission is to share the joy of choral music with our singers, our community of alumni and supporters, and with audiences in Oxford and around the world. We challenge ourselves to perform to the highest standards, providing outstanding musical training for young singers and conductors.
Schola comprises around thirty singers, most of whom are students at Oxford University. Studying a broad variety of subjects across the Humanities and Sciences, the choir’s members rehearse on Monday evenings during term, and regularly perform in Oxford and elsewhere.
Schola is always looking for talented singers of all voice parts to join the choir. While most auditions are held at the start of the academic year, it may sometimes be possible to join the choir at the start of other terms.
The choir is run by the Choir Committee, in close consultation with the Conductor (Steven Grahl) and the Artistic Administrator. The Committee are all current members of Schola, so there are plenty of opportunities for singers to benefit from the experience of helping to run a professional musical organisation.
