OUChorus is OUMS’ newly-reformed choral society, and we have an enthusiastic and ambitious new committee at the helm. From singing with large symphony orchestras to intimate a cappella settings, we offer a diverse and friendly musical experience. In Michaelmas, we will join forces with OUPhil for an unforgettable performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony. In Hilary Term, enjoy an intimate concert in the University Church, featuring Morten Lauridsen's stunning Nocturnes, with repertoire ranging from Vaughan Williams, to Ola Gjeilo and the Beatles. Join us for rehearsals and connect with choir friends over coffee or brunch at our weekly socials!

Beth 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick

Conductor

Beth Fitzpatrick (known as ‘Fitz’) is a Masters student at New College, completing an MSt in Music Performance. They are a conductor and mezzo-soprano, singing in St Peter’s College choir through their undergraduate degree and taking up a Graduate Choral Assistant position with Keble College Choir this academic year. They started conducting at the beginning of their degree, managing to get some small ensemble performances off the ground by the beginning of their second year following the COVID lockdowns. Their biggest project, and the last of their undergraduate, was Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, which performed to sold-out audiences at St Peter's College Chapel and the Sheldonian Theatre. Their final year in Oxford is already jam-packed and they are very excited to begin work with OUChorus.

Emma Hunt

Assistant Conductor

Emma is a second-year music student at Somerville College. Emma is a choral scholar in the Somerville College Choir, having never sung in a choir prior to the choral trials. She has always loved singing, and took part in a community opera before deciding to apply as a choral scholar. She is looking forward to sharing her crazy warm-ups with the rest of OUChorus, and is determined to ensure that OUChorus is a place for all who love singing, regardless of experience!
