Oxford University Chorus
Manager: Luke Funnell
Do you audition?
Nope - all are welcome to come along for a sing! Absolutely no experience required!
What is the usual rehearsal schedule?
11am till 12.30pm on Saturdays – we’re currently awaiting confirmation that we can use the very shiny new Schwarzman Centre for our rehearsals! :D
What kind of music does OUChorus sing?
We enjoy performing ambitious (but accessible) large-scale choral repertoire with orchestral accompaniment from the western classical tradition. We also love to explore contemporary music and music by underrepresented composers.
When do you perform?
We regularly perform one concert per term – follow us on Instagram and sign up to our mailing list to get the latest updates on concert dates.

Want to try singing while you’re at Oxford? Looking for something less formal than your college choir? Or just after a fun way to spend your Saturday morning? OUChorus might be the perfect ensemble for you! OUChorus is OUMS’ choral society. A friendly and non-auditioned choir, we’re open to all members of the University, both students and staff. We warmly welcome singers of all experience levels and none (in fact, many of our members are new to singing). From fun rehearsals on Saturday mornings to high-quality performances with orchestra, OUChorus offers a fantastic musical and social experience for everyone. We programme exciting but accessible large-scale choral works. Last year we enjoyed performing Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s cantata, Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast.
In Michaelmas 2025 we will be singing Dale’s epic When Music Sounds, and we’d love for you to join us!

OUChorus Conductors

George Finney
Conductor
George Finney is a 2nd year music student at Hertford College where he is also an organ scholar. As a former member of the West Midlands-based choir, The Junior Saint James Singers, his school chapel choir, and OUChorus itself, George has a superb understanding of choral music and the communal aspects of singing in a choir. George also has much experience accompanying choirs not just at Hertford but also at Holy Trinity Church (Stratford-Upon-Avon) and St Patrick’s Church (Earlswood). During his first year, George enjoyed engaging with a wonderfully diverse range of musical activities and the incredible community of musicians in Oxford. In the coming year with OUChorus, George hopes to foster our musical community, sharing the joy of choral singing and encouraging more people to discover its richness together.
George Ke
Assistant Conductor
George Ke is a 2nd year music student and the Senior Organ Scholar at Lady Margaret Hall, where he conducts and accompanies the college choir for weekly choral evensong. He is also the Co-Musical Director of LMH Chamber Choir, which recently toured in Paris this summer, performing in venues such as La Madeleine and Saint-Eustache. Previously, he was a YOST Organ Scholar at the Liverpool Blue Coat School, an organist at St Clare’s Church (Liverpool), and a rehearsal pianist for the Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Choir’s 2023 Christmas Carol Service at Liverpool Cathedral. George looks forward to rehearsing and performing beautiful music with the lovely members of OUChorus in the year ahead.
