Oxford University String Ensemble

Manager: Tasha Birch

Do you audition?

No! Anyone is welcome, regardless of ability or experience!

What is the usual rehearsal schedule?

We rehearse every Sunday, 11-2 in the Dennis Arnold Hall at the Music Faculty

What's the conductor like?

We are holding auditions for this year's conductor at the beginning of Michaelmas - watch this space!

When do you perform?

We perform once a term, usually in 5th/6th week

Where can I buy tickets for the next concert?

Keep an eye on our socials!

We are a small, non-auditioned string orchestra that aims to tackle a wide variety of string

repertoire, both well known and more obscure. Our most recent concert included works by

Biber, Bruch and Mendelssohn, and have also previously played Dvorak, Mozart, Sibelius, Elgar

and Suk – among many, many others! We are a very friendly group and tend to play much

smaller concerts than the other ensembles, making it perfect for those who don’t want the

intensity of a full orchestra.
