Oxford Festival Orchestra

The OFO has two distinct aims: 1) to raise funds for charities supporting talented young musicians from deprived backgrounds; and 2) to give Oxford student musicians the chance to play with world-leading professional musicians (chiefly drawn from the European Chamber Orchestra and the London Philharmonic) at the top of their game. While we tend to focus on repertoire commonly included in professional auditions (e.g. Freischutz, Beethoven 7) we're also keen to explore music that lies firmly off the beaten track. In the long term, we intend to cultivate not so much an orchestra as a inclusive chamber ensemble of 60 soloists within which each musician feels able to play their heart out.
