Each week, the OUMS newsletter features an interview with someone who positively contributes to the Oxford music scene. This week, we sat down with soprano and assistant conductor of Oxford University Chorus, Emma Hunt, to ask about what she's been up to this term!

Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello my name is Emma and I am a second year music student and choral scholar at Oxford. In fact, I’d never sung in a choir before auditioning for choral trials!
What are you working on at the moment?
It’s been a busy term and it’s gonna be a jam-packed 7th week. I am the current Assistant Conductor of OUChorus which culminates in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No 2. I have also been directing the Oxford University Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of The Pirates of Penzance!
What has your favourite musical experience been at Oxford so far?
Performing at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival this summer where we, the Oxford University Gilbert and Sullivan Society, were crowned champions of UniFest!
Where can you see yourself going in the future?
My dream is to be an opera singer, however currently I’m enjoying conducting and directing so who knows where life might take me…
Give us a music recommendation!
