Merton college music society is run by Merton (predominantly music) students but often collaborates with students and societies from other colleges. Notable regular events include:
- Weekly recital series on Wednesdays at 1.15pm, often Merton students or choir members but we are happy for musicians for any college to ask for a slot
- Fidelio orchestra: Mertons intercollegiate orchestra which we revived last year, non-auditioned but high standards (we suggest Grade 7+ standard but can be flexible), rehearsals weekly on Saturdays 4-5.30 with a twenty concert in week 7/8. Mixture of classical and film music, Rep last year included Marquez Danzón No.2, Haydn Symphony 104 movement I, and the How to Train your dragon suite
- Kodaly Choir, Merton’s non-auditioned and student run choir, more info to follow as the committee are reviving the choir this academic year
- we are hoping to start regular band nights in the college bar, so any and all bands in Oxford are free to get in contact!
