Upcoming concerts

OUO & Remy Ballot - Bruckner's 4th
OUO joins forces with Conductor Rémy Ballot at the Sheldonian Theatre for a majestic programme of Wagner and Bruckner. The concert features Bruckner’s narrative 4th Symphony, evoking medieval scenes of hunting parties and woodland beauty through vast soundscapes that bring the legendary Austrian wilderness to life. Self-dubbed ‘Romantic’, the spirituality of nature is displayed by signature dramatic swells and rich emotional shifts. We precede this with Wagner’s stately “Die Meistersinger” Overture, the resplendent introduction to his traditional comic opera. From regal marches to joyful, bustling energy, it is a symphonic journey packed with brilliance.

OUSinf plays Clyne, Beethoven and Mendelssohn
The Oxford University Sinfonietta presents its Michaelmas Term concert, matching Clyne with works from the classical luminaries of Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Featured are Beethoven's stormy Coriolan Overture, inspired by Collin's tragedy following the legend of Coriolanus in the early Roman Republic, Clyne's invigorating Sound and Fury, with its warring moments of serenity and ferocity, and Mendelssohn's magical Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Join us at 8:30 PM on Sunday, 22nd November at Merton College Chapel for a Shakespearian evening of works for chamber orchestra.
